Indigenous Australians and Rice

Who are they? Indigenous Australians or known as The Aborigines are said to be the first to arrive in Australia. They are said to walk to Australia from Africa. They see the land of Australia as a sacred and secret land. They believe that the spirits under the ground rises up to make rivers, mountain and other features. They protects it, they only uses what they need and kept other parts of the land in good condition. They do not build shelters nor wear clothes which is amazing as the temperature during winter is very low. They hunt animals, collect fruits for food. They make baskets for a living. They refuses to leave their land during the European colonization as mentioned earlier, they see the land as a sacred land.

Indigenous Australians today are trying their best to protect their culture, history and art as the colonization have disrupted their way of life dramatically compared to before colonization. Some of them still hunt and collect fruits. Also, some of them have electronic gadgets.

In order to meet the growing demand of rice from parts of the world, Asia being the main distributor of rice have to increase rice production by 70%. This also means that the retail price for rice might increase if the rice production cannot produce enough rice for everyone.

If people from parts of the world can be like the Aborigines, we will not need to face a rice crisis now. If the price of rice were to increase, people in less developed countries will starve.
